Sand Priest (Sha Wujing) is one of the three disciples of The Monk (Tang Sanzang) in the 16th century novel Journey to the West. Just like Pigsy (Zhu Bajie), he was a general in Heaven until he destroyed a valuable vase and was exiled to earth as a Demon.
Later, in exchange of his sins, recruited by Goddess of Mercy (Guanyin) to help The Monk (Tang Sanzang) with his supernatural powers and become one of the three disciples in the Novel.
